Russian President Vladimir Putin presided over a security meeting of the Russian Federation, Russian media reported Monday. The main agenda was to receive a briefing from Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and discuss military and security issues.
At the start of the meeting, Mr. Putin said, “Today our agenda is mainly concerned with military security issues, which is a real problem.”
In its coverage of the meeting, Dumatv, Russia’s state broadcaster, linked the issue of the day to the situation at Ukraine’s Zaporo nuclear power plant. The report quoted Vladimir Volodin, chairman of the Russian State Duma, as saying that an attack on the Zaporo nuclear power plant could have tragic consequences that would have a serious impact on the people of Ukraine and other European countries.
