As we all know, water quality varies from region to region.  Visibility varies from environment to environment, and is affected by other factors such as weather, moisture in the water, and water temperature.  In some cases, the diving environment is limited, such as when diving in poorly lit caves or in plankton-rich waters.  Therefore, for divers, the flashlight can be said to be essential equipment diving.  Those of you who are familiar with scuba diving will probably know that, in general, a flashlight has the following functions underwater:

Second, use navigation proficiently

With poor visibility, it's hard to know where you are and where you're going.  In addition to flashlights, Pointers and other navigational references are also important.

 

Third, know the depth of the dive

Limited visibility can be disorienting when descending and ascending, especially when you can't see the bottom or surface of the water.  This can be avoided by following a reference down or up.  If you can't use a reference while descending or ascending, as you learned earlier, use a dive meter to know the depth and rate of descent/ascent.
